8 emo tracks for the lovelorn anti-valentine's loser.

I am a noughties teen. Therefore, the noughties was a really influential decade for me, in terms of both musical and self discovery. The first two genres I  unashamedly fell  madly in love with, were those of the post hardcore / emo variety. There was something about the passion, the raw, unapologetic, emotion that wrapped its fingers around my heart and pumped fresh blood into my veins. These two genres were the first stepping stones towards a broad interest in predominately underground music. It shied away from what, for me, was the mundanity of mainstream pop and r&b  of the charts that you could hear everywhere, and introduced me to a wonderful secret world of genres and sub genres that I never knew existed.

As I have matured, so has my music taste. But I have never fallen out of love with emo /post hardcore.  So today, on Valentine's day 2015. I dedicate this post to 8 of the most angsty, emo tracks we were listening to in the noughties, and the heartbreaking, lonely, jaded, dramatic lyrics we were screaming out in despair!
