Single Review: Brigitte Aphrodite - 'Creshendorious'.
Without background information, 'Creshendorious' is the type of track the lures you in under a false pretence. It begins with gentle guitar picking that might make you think you're about to listen to a nice, acoustic, 'Hotel California'- esque little number. This ideology swiftly evaporates when the track introduces sound bites of traffic noises before the quirky, cockney spoken word storytelling of Brigitte Aphrodite begins.
Lyrically, some interesting themes and famous names of pop culture make an appearance; Simon Amstell, Tina Turner, Van Gogh, Toto the dog , and Judy Garland exist within Brigitte's creshendorious wonderland. Wit and absurdity lie beside clever metaphors and honest reflections of the human condition. There's something amongst the weird here that is pretty exquisite. Brigitte spellbindingly pulls her audience and listener in on her amusing, absurd yet surprisingly moving journey with a multitude of talent, that in reality is pretty hard to pull off. It's an acquired taste that we are 100% on board with.
'Creshendorious' is taken from singer, poet, songwriter and feminist showgirl Brigitte Aphrodite's forthcoming debut studio album due for release in Autumn of this year. Both 'Creshendorious' and the upcoming album draw on music from 'My Beautiful Black Dog', an electrifying musical written and starring Brigitte, which is currently running at Edinburgh Festival now until the 16th August.. Ticket are still available here.
'Creshendorious' was releasesd on 7th August and is available for digital download on iTunes.
