The Video Explained: Shopping - 'Straight Lines'
Who: Shopping are a post-punk three-piece formed in East London in 2012. They are; Rachel Aggs (guitar), Billy Easter (bass) and Andrew Milk (drums)
About The Track: 'Straight Lines' is taken from the album 'Why Choose' out now via FatCat Records . The track is forged of hastened yet monotonous vocals, angular propulsive bass lines, primitive disco-not-disco drums and sharp guitar lines.
The Video Explained: “The video is a metaphor for being caught up in a constricting relationship that you know is ultimately shallow and poisonous,” says director Margarita Louca. “We played on Andrew’s lyrics — the idea of giving so much of yourself away (your life, love, money) to someone who treats you with contempt and dispassion — much like the inanimate objects littering the background of their life.”
