Single Review: Matt Woods - 'Ain't No Use'

"You're the only thing that keeps me going" croons Matt Woods in his first offering of the year, 'Ain't No Use' where his soulful vocals take flight on a weightless journey of acceptance in the face of residual feelings:

"There’s a difference between getting over someone, and choosing to move on from them. The track is about accepting that some people will always have a hold over you no matter how much you’d like them not to.”

In 'Aint No Use', jazzy keys meet slick layered electronics and synths, which act as an anchor to Woods achingly high vocal range. 'Aint No Use' follows on from 'Blue Skies' and is lighter in mood, and reveals a more refined, experimental direction than his previous tracks, which were quite tonally dark.

Woods has mixed up the production on his future-soul sound and taken a direction that is less broody pop and more soulful rnb. With more new material soon to come, we expect it to be a very interesting year for Matt Woods.
