Watch: WagakkiBand - 'Senbonzakura' (Video).
It's easy to understand why Japanese 8-piece WagakkiBand are gaining notorious popularity across the entirety of the globe. Combining Shigin (poetry recitation rooted in Japanese traditional performing arts), Wagakki, (traditional Japanese musical instruments) and rock music, WagakkiBand have found a way to be both contemporary and stick to authentic Japanese roots.
The enticing and vibrant video for 'Senbonzakura' shows the band performing their instruments in a traditional Japanese setting. This is indicative that the band's art and creativity is just as much about being visually stimulating as it is about being sonically exciting. It says a lot about the artist when not understanding the language of the lyrics is completely irrelevant to the listeners enjoyment. WagakkiBand really are masters of their craft.
WaakkiBand have just played two dates in the US, including Austin's SXSW 2016, and this only leaves us here in London with one question: When will they be heading to the UK?
