The Artist Explains: King Harvest & The Weight - 'Bloodsport' (Video)

Who: King Harvest & The Weight is the project of  Halifax-born musician Ben Adey

About The Track: 'Bloodsport' is taken from the debut album 'Maps', due for release 20/06/16 via Harbour Song Records.

King Harvest & The Weight's sublime vocals soar across sun-dappled country-tinged instrumentation adding a blissful antitheses to what is fundamentally a serious and sad song.
The Artist Explains:
Where was the video filmed?
The video was filmed by Jordan Greenwood in and around parts of Halifax, West Yorkshire.

How does the video compliment the song?
Bloodsport is about the effect that Depression can have on life and relationships. Well, speaking from my own personal experiences anyway. The weird thing is that I gave Jordan a free reign creatively over the video and he came back to me with the video. He's a talented young man.

Any behind the scenes stories?
Yes, one or two..... the mask caused a lot of amusement and apparently scared the shit out of several passers by on the subway. That's my favourite one.

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
It's all shot in black and white, as you've probably seen. I can't tell you too much about the ideas/themes/imagery etc as Jordan did it all.

What is the message the video is trying to convey?
The video is from my point of view, trying to convey that, Depression is a really horrible thing to deal with. It really can control everything you do and when things go wrong it can reading spiral things out of control. Add a relationship where someone doesn't understand, or perhaps have the ability to communicate over your situation properly and you can find yourself at your wits end.

I guess that's where it's going, lyrically anyway. Jordan's video perfectly captures the mood of the lyrical content. Check his work out: https://www.facebook.com/jgvideophotography/
