The Band Explains: Monarks - 'You Were My Fire' (Video)

Having recently self-released their brand new single ‘You Were My Fire’, on June 27 on Still Recordings, via PIAS, we decided to chat to alternative rock quartet Monarks about the ideas behind the single and accompanying music video.
Monarks will also be at 2000 Trees Festival  and will be playing The Axiom Stage this Friday at 12pm.

The Band Explains:
Where was the video filmed?
The video was filmed in a warehouse/studio in East London.

How does the video compliment the song?
We just wanted something raw with a live feel as ‘You Were My Fire’ is such an energetic track, so there's loads of camera movement and we tried to capture our energetic performance so people get an idea of what we're like.

Any behind the scenes stories?
A lot of continental meat and cheese was eaten, as much as we could in between takes. Apart from that just the usual, blood on guitars and bruises. And it was a Sunday so the neighbours did complain about hearing the track 50 times!

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
We wanted a fast paced, energetic performance video, nothing fancy for this one. The darker lighting seems to compliment the track, and we didn't want to be fully exposed when dancing around and playing as hard as possible - some funny faces are probably in there, hidden by the darkness!

What is the message the video is trying to convey?
We are conveying the band’s energy in our live performances. This is our favourite track to play live which gets everyone going, so we just wanted to get a video of us playing as hard as we can to this track.
