The Band Explains: We Are The Catalyst - 'Delusion' (Video)

Where was the video filmed?
In a venue called "Elektronen" in Kungsbacka, Sweden, rented the place as we liked the simplistic look of the stage there, and felt we could focus on our performance.
How does the video compliment the song?
We decided to do a very stripped back performance video this time, as we usually do more intricate videos using some form of storyline to set the mood. We felt that 'Delusion' is such a strong track in itself that we wanted full focus on the song, with just the right intense lighting and setting to get the mood right. The song is giving the listeners a somewhat chaotic experience, so we wanted the video to be intense with a lot of strobe lights and parts where it´s very dark to the point of almost not being able to see us. We also focused on editing the video in such a way that the blacks are very black, and the whites are very white, to give a slightly surreal feel to it, like it´s almost dreamy.
Any behind the scenes stories?
We actually tried out Facebook's live streaming function for the first time while shooting this video, and it was very much appreciated by our fans, getting a first hand look at how we shot the video, and getting the chance to be "inside the making" so to speak. Definitely going to do that more often in the future!
And due to some heavy headbanging we had a few close calls with guitars almost decapitating people and jewellery flying all over the place, potentially poking eyes out. But what WATC video-production isn´t like that?
Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
When planning this video we had tons of ideas (and even filmed and edited a lot of them intending to use them in the video) of how we wanted to film parts to use as storyline to give the feeling of having delusions, or rather not seeing the world as it is, but in the end we felt the performance part was so strong and set the exact mood we were after, that we just scrapped all "story" parts at the last moment in editing. Part of the decision was also made because we have done 7 music videos before 'Delusion' with more or less focus on a storyline, so we felt we need to release one with just focus on performance and mood setting instead. We choose a very dark theme for this video, matching clothes and styling to the songs dark intense feel.
What is the message the video is trying to convey?
A simple wonderful sense of chaos. A touch of surrealism. The song is about having to ignore the world around us, instead living in a fantasy world full of escapism. Something we believe all of us do to a certain extent, and also something that we all NEED to do if we want to remain sane.
