The Band Explains: Kasai - 'The Beast I Am' (Video)

Jay Serrao of London-based outfit Kasai speaks to us about the choices behind their animated music video for chugging Classic Rock track, 'The Beast I Am'.

'The Beast I Am' is a track written 3 years ago by Jay/Jack from Kasai and is taken from the band's recently released album, 'The Juice' which is available on a name your price basis or as a  free download via Kasai's bandcamp page, here.

Where is the animation from?
 A collection of cartoons from the Betty Boop archives.

How does the video compliment the song? 
 We were trawling for old skool Betty Boop videos that matched the groove of the song whilst conveying the message too. It is one of our 'uppy' (if we may) tracks. Goes down well with the audience . And more importantly helps with the visuals we normally have when we play live.

Tell us about the ideas/ imagery used in this song?It's just a playful montage of Betty Boop and friends dancing (after painstaking editing) to our tune really. We wanted it to be in Black and White because our genre is Classic Rock. Hence pretty raw as in what you hear is what you get live too. One guitar, One singer, One bass and one drummer. Sans the harmonies of course.

What is the message of the song?
No matter who you are, what you are, no matter how you look or what you wear, you are always seen to be a beast by someone. So, just get on with it.
