The Band Explains: Little Brother Eli - 'This Girl'

British rock, soul, blues, and pop band

Little Brother Eli

speak to us about the ideas behind their edgy, light and dark themed music video, 'This Girl'.

'This Girl' is taken from the band's most recent album, 'Cold Tales' out now via The Animal Farm.

Little Brother Eli Explains:

Where was the video filmed?

The video was filmed in a Big Yellow Self-Storage lot. The company were really on board with what we were doing and kindly gave us the space to use.

How does the video compliment the song?

The video has two sides to it: light and dark. The shots in the dark represent the 'evil' side of the female character and light shots show the opposite. We used this to give the video an edgy undercurrent.

Any behind the scenes stories?

We had the usual madness of stuff breaking on the day and speeding through a crazy schedule. The funniest moment was Josh (bassist) falling through head first into our dancer Sasha's shots when he tripped over a cable.

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?

As mentioned before, we used the light and dark themes to emphasize the female character's split personality. We also want to incorporate an exciting performance by the band to convey what we're like live. Shots like the slow-motion parts really helped to bring the production value up.

What is the message the video is trying to convey?

The video tries to convey lots of different things. Obviously it's a showcase for the band's performance and songwriting, but it's also a tale about how seemly unremarkable people can have a hidden side to themselves.
