Mothers - Live @ Bodega, Nottingham, UK 26/08/2016
Photographer Hayley Fearnley catches Mothers live at The Bodega on the Nottingham leg of their UK & Europe Tour with support from Keto and Billie.
Nottingham based singer songwriter Billie opened the evening to roughly 20 people in the room, such an intimate gig, completely different to what I’m used to. Although it was just one girl on her own, singing with nothing but her acoustic guitar, she seemed to capture everyone in the room. She had a beautiful voice and seemed like a very sweet girl who was very thankful to the crowd for even being there. She played some old songs and also new songs from her new EP.
Nottingham act Keto were up next bringing more intimate and chilled out vibes. People even just sat on the floor and listened to the music, taking it in. This live act consisted of fpunder and lead singer Leah Sanderson playing guitar and her key player, who also played the acoustic guitar for some songs. One of the songs played - 'Jackie - was written about Alzheimer's and the singer revealed she’d be jumping out of a plane the next day to raise money for it, it’s something very unique to write a song about and was beautifully sung.
After two quite stripped back acts, Mothers lead singer Kristine Leschper came out by herself to begin with and sung a solo acoustic piece which led on really well from the previous acts, before playing more energetic songs with the entire 4 piece band. They attracted a lot more people as they came on and the room was almost full. The lead singer had a unique voice which was great to hear.
Overall a very peaceful and chilled gig, some people even showed up alone just to stand and enjoy the music being played. There was even a lack of people playing on there phones which shows how well all the acts captured the audience.
