The Artist Explains: Aaron Orbit - 'Agua Mala' (Video
California singer and composer Aaron Orbit speaks to us about the ideas behind his cinematic music video, for new single, 'Agua Mala'.
'Aqua Mala' is a bold and potent track led by terse drums, and tense arrangements with an underlying, uplifting ambience seeing Aaron Orbit's striking vocals tell an unforgettable tale of bleak and conflicted emotion.
Aaron Orbit Explains
Where was the video filmed?
The video was filmed at various locations across California.
How does the video compliment the song?
Whenever Travis (director) and I sit down to discuss a video idea, this is our third collaboration, we never like to go with the obvious. But with 'Agua Mala', we knew we had to shoot it underwater. The song has kind of a melancholy feel so it was screaming to be shot underwater.
Any behind the scenes stories?
For the underwater scenes I was given a list of safety instructions, a belt with weights attached to it, and hand signals just in case something went wrong. Needless to say, I was little nervous. haha Oh, and there was a jean commercial being shot while we were at the dunes. That was a little strange.
Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
We knew from the start that we wanted the 3 main scenes to have their own color and feel. You have the underwater scene that's black and white with a kind of lost in the abyss feel, cold and aggressive for the drum sequence, and warm yellow tones for the dunes. Interview feature by Karla Harris
