The Band Explains: Boxtape - 'Fancy Objects' (Video)

Sussex-based indie guitar duo Boxtape talk to us all things behind the scenes on the making of their music video for 'Fancy Objects'.'Fancy Objects' is the duo's spacious, eclectic and upbeat indie folk debut single that was released independently and available now across all digital download platforms or for free download via Boxtape's bandcamp.

Where was the video for 'Fancy Objects' filmed?
The video was shot at The Old Bakehouse Antiques Center in Northampton. You may have seen them on the Antiques Roadshow (or similar daytime tv show) as they are often featured, they are a mecca for antiques and curio lovers.

How does the video compliment the song?
The track is about not needing lots of unnecessary things to be happy, so we thought filming in a place that was completely full of random objects from floor to ceiling would be a great visual aid, as well as a slightly ironic twist on what we are trying to say in the song.

Any behind the scenes stories?
The shoot itself was very chilled and terribly English if we're honest. The shop was open when we were filming so obviously we had onlookers and people firing questions at us. During down time the main conversation throughout the day was about cats, we also had lots of Victoria sponge cake.

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
One of the main themes is the colours, everything is based on mustard yellow and teal green, we feel this really ties the overall aesthetic together and makes a very polished piece. We played most of the shots intentionally dead pan as we wanted to get that contrast between the upbeat song and very serious looking visuals.

What is the message the video is trying to convey?
Have fun with everything, don't take things too seriously, filming in slow motion makes everything look amazing!
