The Director Explains: Tzlil - 'Oh My Love' (Video)

Director Amnon Ron talks us through the ideas behind  Israeli pop sensation Tzlil's glittery music video,  'Oh My Love'.
'Oh My Love' is a sophisticated contemporary pop track with Middle-Eastern flair and is the third single taken from Tzlil's  debut EP ‘Tzlil 3.1’.

The Director Explains:

Where was the video for 'Oh My Love' filmed?
The video was filmed in the ‘Lightbox Studio’ in Tel Aviv, as well as in an apartment in the towers of Downtown Tel Aviv.

How does the video compliment the song?
The song is about a relationship in crisis, going through a difficult phase, and trying to stick together despite the roughness of the outside world.

I put the relationship within a context. The video is about fame and the expectations from a star. We put Tzlil in a glittery world that takes over her body and life, until she becomes totally abstract, like in a James Bond opening sequence.

Can you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
The abstract glitter is all analogue, filming glitter glue on a waterfall made of black plasticine, all lit from beneath, creating this special glow.

Bond title sequences were a reference for the montage in the end. Also a reference for the dancer and his costume.

What is the message the video is trying to convey
No message. The video conveys a story. Take what you want from it.
