Live Review: Meadowlark - Kentish Town Forum, London 25/02/2017

When Bristol based boy-girl-duo Meadowlark opened for Amber Run in North London's Kentish Town Forum last month, we popped down early to give them some support.

Opening straight away with 'Headlights', a fusion of pop melodies and a cool driven back bone of a drum beat, Meadowlark get the slowly filling up room bopping their heads. Holding their ground on the small amount of stage space that they had been given. It is very easy to start comparing these two to Oh Wonder, with a similar set up, the boy-girl-duo, however they also fill with the same excitement that I felt when I listened to Oh Wonder when they first started out. And look how they are doing now. Ending their set with 'Fly' sees their performance completed with a magical small singalong from the crowd, Meadowlark have clearly won over some new fans this evening, beyond the party awkwardness there was a clear moment for them.

The one thing I feel the band lacked was a bit of stage presence, however being given it wasn't their headline show, that is completely understandable. I would love to see them before with a full stage set up of their own, so I could see the full potential of their creative partnership.
