Live Review: Prides & Twin Wild - Ruby Lounge, Manchester 22/03/2017

The Ruby Lounge in Manchester played host to Prides and Twin Wild.

Alternative/indie 4 piece rock band Twin Wild opened the night to an already packed crowd which meant they could get the recognition they deserve. Having been a fan of theirs I was happy to see people getting down early to catch them. Twin Wild played songs off of their new EP My Heart' with title single being one of them. Also their debut single 'fears' which is my favourite song by them to date and with its catchy chorus it was well received by the crowd who were singing along, which got them warmed for the main act.

Scottish indie band Prides came on to an electric crowd of eager fans awaiting their presence on the stage. Through hearing them for the first time in 2014 when they closed the commonwealth games in hometown of Glasgow, which was a major achievement since only just forming and releasing a few tracks as a band, I was eager myself to hear what they have done since.

They opened up their set with brand new track ‘Away With The Night’ which was then released as a single which hopefully should set them up for a new EP or potential album. Following that, they then went on to play tracks from their debut album “The Way Back Up’ including ‘It’s Not Gonna Change’ which immediately caught my attention and they became a band that I will listen to regularly and hope to see again. The band interacted with the crowd well, with Steward Brock on lead vocals and keys and also Callum Wiseman on guitar, keys and backing vocals as throughout the whole set the crowd was singing and chanting along from the start with high energy, happy faces and even higher voices. Which built the crowd up for the closing track ‘Messiah’ which was a great way to end the show as I felt it was a fan favourite as it was the most well received song by the crowd.

Both bands were very well received from the crowd and the venue felt more of an intimate setting with it being a smaller venue. That being said it was full up with excited fans of all ages which created a lovely atmosphere of people enjoying the music brought to them.
