Live Review: GROUPLOVE & Vukovi - Scala, London 23/08/2017

The end of August is always an exciting time, firstly it means Reading Festival is almost upon us, but secondly it also means there is a hell of a lot of intimate warm up shows before bands take to it’s stage. The band GROUPLOVE saw this as an ideal opportunity to let their indie-dance floor tunes take over London’s Scala for one night before they headed to that festival stage.

Support came from Scottish band Vukovi, who managed to hold their own while playing to a crowd that wasn’t theirs. They have absolutely taken over the festival scene this summer, so it was amazing to see them bringing their own version of weird to the stage. Lead vocalist Janine, takes over the room as soon as she stepped onto the stage. We will be certainly keeping a firm eye of these guys in the coming months.

On stepped GROUPLOVE.

And the party began.

GROUPLOVE - Scala - 23.08.2017

With three studio albums and platinum-selling singles to choose from, they had the arsenal to keep them going all night. And by god did they try!

The major hits like Tongue Tied, went down a treat with the crowd, with massive room sing-alongs and crowd surfing. However new material got a great response from the crowd too, with some tracks being so new that the band admitting they ‘will most likely fuck it up’. This was not the case, and each new track they played was greeted with a huge applause from the crowd.

Intimate gigs like are great, because….well, they are intimate. It allows you to see a band up close. And experiences like that are to be treasured.

And GROUPLOVE certainly created one of those.
