The Artist Explains: KEELS - 'Fears'

London based singer-songwriter KEELS speaks to us about the short cinematic film that accompanies his achingly beautiful new single, 'Fears'.

With intelligently crafted lyricism and affecting arrangements, 'Fears' is an atmospheric, cinematic pop track delivered through a poised and introspective vocal, intended to pack a huge emotional punch. London folk, be sure to catch KEELS at Camden Assembly Hall London, on the 15th of September.

Where was the video for 'Fears' filmed?
The video was shot in New York, Connecticut and Paris.

How does the video compliment the song?
The video was a short film produced and directed by some friends at film school and wasn't made with the song in mind. The great thing about this is people can make their own interpretation of what is going on. The film tells the story of a love triangle and the difficulties that are presented in that situation. The song Fears can definitely relate to these worries/insecurities/fears that would present themselves in a situation like this.

 Any behind the scenes stories?
The director's family were from Paris France which was the reason for that location and NYC was where the Lee Strasberg acting/film school was which they attended.


Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?  What is the message you hope people take from watching the video?
The track is set up by a moody/haunting/reverberated bass line which sits well with the topic of Fears/insecurities. I think the message is, take from it what you like. For me it's sometimes we loose control and sometimes we don't and should we be defined more by the things we do than the things we don't...
