Live Review: The Maine - Thelka, Bristol 14/09/2017
A packed out venue awaited The Maine and when they finally stepped out on stage the whole crowd went wild. Frontman, John O’Callaghan, waded his way through the crowd with three songs left to play and dramatically climbed up to the top deck and sat amongst fans on the edge of the balcony. On the trip back down he encouraged a fan on stage, who unfortunately didn’t know the words to the song, but made sure he didn’t get off the stage until he knew them. Tracks of their albums, old and new, all went down a treat with the crowd, throwing lyrics back at the band and filling the room with energy throughout. ‘Taxi’ sent the crowd into a mixture of emotions, with a few tears falling around the venue. Their music and stage presence is the unique style of bands like The Killers, and funnily enough John looks a little like Brandon Flowers too!
A brilliant band who know just how to work a crowd, an incredible night was had by all.
