Live Review: Yonaka - The Borderline, London 14/09/2017

Yonaka seem to be gaining serious speed in the past few months after an incredibly busy summer of festival appearances; including Reading & Leeds, Download and twice at Bestival! The obvious next choice was to play a huge headline show in the capital…

From the moment, I entered The Borderline I could sense the buzz of excitement in the air, this was going to be one of those iconic musical moment I could tell!

A huge roar from the crowd could be heard all the way across London as Theresa & Co. took the stage; absolutely smashing their entrance with yet to be released track ‘Gods & Lovers’ the crowd instantly became a frenzy of pumping fists and a surprisingly energetic moshpit! This energy did not die off at any point during the 45-minute set, the band played a considerable amount of new songs such as ‘Run’ which blew myself and the rest of audience away! Of course, it wasn’t too long until some classic Yonaka material was blasting out, ‘Ignorance, ‘Drongo’ and the latest single ‘Wouldn’t wanna be ya’ got every person moving their feet.

As the lights turned pink it was time for the final song aptly named ‘Bubblegum’; a blend of catchy samples used during the chorus and guitar insanity, I can’t wait for this one to be released officially!!!

All in all Yonaka absolutely annihilated their Sold Out headline show, the chemistry the band have with each other and the crowd is hard to match and I can just tell that the next few months are going to be very positive for these Brighton based rockers.
