Live Review: Clean Cut Kid, Callum Beattie & Marsicans - The Bullingdon, Oxford 17/10/2017

After going along to Clean Cut Kid’s London show back in May this year, when we heard about a new tour and that it was possibly going to be the last one for a little while; we packed our bags and set off to see that crazy bunch at the Bullingdon in Oxford!!

First on stage tonight was indie sweethearts Marsicans, after a very busy summer playing festivals all over the country it was quite nice to see them in a more intimate venue such as The Bullingdon! The colourful quartet (not talking about their incredible shirt choice) absolutely slayed their set in Oxford this evening, playing fan favourites such as the extremely catchy ‘Too Good’, ‘Friends’ which got the whole crowd showing off their best moves and finished with the epic ‘Absence’.

Shortly after, a Scottish man known as Callum Beattie and his band graced the stage for tonight’s second performance! Callum’s performance was scattered with absolute indie bangers, from the enchanting ‘Lost Souls’ or ‘Shine On’ to more dance-y and singalong tracks like ‘Man Behind the Sun’ or ‘We Are Stars’! Every track got better and better; after seeing Mr Beattie’s show this evening, no doubt we will be back soon to see another!!

Being on such a high after the two prior sets, when it came around for Clean Cut Kid’s turn we could barely contain our excitement! Smashing out the gate with fan favourite ‘Runaway’ we could already tell Clean Cut Kid's show this evening was going to be a good one. ‘We Used to Be in Love’ & ‘Make Believe’ made the crowd go wild with joy, a vast sea of raised hands and dancing feet! Before we knew it, it was time for our favourite part any Clean Cut Kid's set, Mike’s dedicated song to his wonderful wife and band mate ‘Evelyn’ which went down with the audience like a roast dinner on Sunday! A few more Clean Cut Kid classics were laid down such as ‘Felt’ & the undeniably funky ‘Pick Me Up’ before it came to the end of the show that no one wanted to end! Never the less it was finished in the most perfect way, by blasting out their biggest hit ‘Vitamin C’, which got a roar of approval from the crowd and ourselves!

It was an absolute pleasure as always to watch Clean Cut Kid tonight in Oxford, hopefully they don’t take too long to write that second album and get back out on the road so we can witness another truly magical show!!
