Live Review: Coasts - The Bullingdon, Oxford 01/10/2017
It was a chilly one tonight in Oxford; we were hoping that tropical-indie superstars Coasts would bring some of that heat to The Bullingdon!
As the lights dimmed and the volume raised Coasts took to the stage, an epic rendition of ‘Modern Love’ instantly sent the audience into a frenzy, with funky guitars that remind you of a beach holiday and wonderfully thought out lyrics this was a brilliant choice for their opener! The main highlights were the calmer and melodic ‘White Noise’ which had arms and heads swaying to the beat; which was a nice break from Coasts usual more dance-y tracks. Secondly was the incredible ‘Take Me Back Home’ from their latest release ‘This Life, Vol 1’ with its huge crashing cymbals and catchy singable chorus which got the whole crowd involved in a mass karaoke session!
The set ended with by far Coasts most popular song ‘Oceans’ which not only had frontman Chris Caines busting a few moves on stage but the whole room jumping and dancing to their hearts content!! A huge sing-a-long of the final chorus was the perfect way to end the show; I’m sure you could hear it from the other side of Oxford it was that deafening!!
Coasts have already achieved so much praise from all over the world for their funky & catchy tunes to their electrifying live performances! Tonight was no different, can’t do anything but praise this band after that show and I hope it’s not too long before I am able to catch them killing it again!!!
