On Tour With: Roam
Fresh off a tour with New Found Glory, and their debut album, 'Great Heights and Nosedives', receiving great reviews, British pop-punkers ROAM announced a tour this December, and we couldn't contain our excitement. We had a chat with their bassist, Matt Roskilly, about the what they have planned for the tour and their on the road experiences.

Are you excited about the headline tour? What is the best bits you look forward to when hitting the road?
We are all so excited to start this headline run. It’s been a while since we released new music so to get to finally play some new songs is going to be refreshing. UK shows are always a lot of fun, the energy tends to be running high so i’m looking forward to that.
What the main tour essentials you pack and why?
Aside from the standard essentials like toiletries and clothes I’d say my main things I have to bring with me are noise cancelling headphones, some kind of reading material and a camera. I think it’s essential on the road to make some time for yourself and there’s nothing like zoning out and reading a book or listening to some music away from the madness. I also always bring a camera with me, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to visit the places we do and I know if I don’t start collecting memories in some form I’ll always regret it.
What has been your best tour experience?
I think collectively we all agree that Warped Tour in the states was our favourite experience. It was awesome to be a part of such a big event in our scene. It’s something we all had on our bucket lists to one day be on the line up. It was also the first time we ever had bunks on our vehicle on tour so it seemed like luxury to us when most people made it out to be really hard.
What has been your worst tour experience?
Probably definitely the time we were on tour in mainland Europe with Simple Plan and we got robbed twice in the space of two days. That sucked.
Who has the most disgusting habits on the tour bus? And what is it?
Honestly, we are all pretty clean people as it goes. I watched our photographer Brad eat a cold tin of spaghetti using a bourbon biscuit instead of fork once though but I wouldn’t class that as a habit, just gross.
What can we expect from this tour? Is there anything new in the set list?
You can expect new jams! We have been playing pretty much the same setlist for the last 18 months so we have had a complete change around and incorporated ton of our new album into the set and we couldn’t be more excited. Get learning the words!
If you could tour with anyone, who would it be and why?
I always say the same bands, it would definitely have to be Blink 182 or Green Day for me, those were my two favourite bands growing up and it would be the biggest honour to have that opportunity.
