Live Review: The Kooks - Brighton Centre, Brighton 25/11/2017
From a small student house share in Kemptown, to the cities biggest venue. The Kooks have risen to the top in some style since the release of their debut album some 11 years ago!
Whilst that may make you feel old, take comfort from the fact the tracks themselves show no age at all. The Brighton Centre was packed out to celebrate the return of their favourite hometown indie legends.
Storming through a set of songs from their complete back catalogue, you soon realised why a relatively young band already have a "Best Of" album out. It only took the band a handful of tracks to warm the crowd up for their first hit "She Moves In Her Own Way". I've been to many a show at the Centre but never have I heard a crowed sing a long to ever word as loud as they did that night.
The Kooks quickly progressed into more fan favourites including "Is It Me", "Matchbox" and an sing-a-long encore with "Seaside" & "Naive".
This was a night that will stay with every single member of the crowd and I would imagine, with the band themselves for a very long time. It's rare you get to see the rise of a local band reach the size The Kooks have, but with it comes a sense of real pride. We can't wait to have them back again!
