Festival News: 53° North Festival

An epic new festival has just been announced for the city of Hull. 53° North will take place on Saturday 9th June at the 3000-capacity outdoor venue, Zebedee’s Yard.

Since being the UK City of Culture in 2017 and hosting an extraordinary year of cultural events, Hull is on the up! The music scene has always been a prominent part of the city and what a way to celebrate with this festival.

Headliners are Slaves, who will be accompanied by The Horrors, Dream Wife and Lady Bird. Hull-based bands LIFE, Night Flowers and Vulgarians are also set to play the one day festival, all of which have recently become massive bands to watch out for.

Zebedee’s Yard, a relatively new outdoor gig venue in the city centre, has hosted huge names already, with Primal Scream and Echo and the Bunnymen playing in 2017. Happy Monday’s and Peter Hook & the Light are also set to play this summer, the venue is a unique way to experience live music. The celebration, put on by local organisations who focus solely on supporting and encouraging young people to prosper within the music industry, is sure to create quite the excitement, and what a wonderful idea it is.

53° North is a local festival, put on by local people and features a lot of local bands, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean it’s only for local punters. I’m proud of my city, and I want everyone to experience it in all of its glory, and this festival is a perfect way to do so! Originating from a music industry conference, the one day festival line up is set to be a great opening for the rest of the event, be sure not to miss it.

It’s bold up North!
