Handmade Festival - Top Five Bands to Check Out

Handmade Festival is literally next week! It secretly sneaked up on us, with it's two days of music in Leicester. With the likes of Circa Waves and Drenge headlining, plus loads more of other bands playing throughout the day, it is hard to decided who to go see. So here is our little guide to the top five bands we reckon you should go see -

Dream Nails

This band's energy alone on stage is something to witness, these four London witches are causing a storm in their home city. Imagine the Ramones with a hint of glitter, well when we say a hint, what we really mean is a lot of glitter! If you don't leave their set feeling dramatically inspired, then there is something very wrong with you.

Weirds

One of our favorite bands from the festival circuit last year. So it is great to see their name on festival lines ups. Their unique mix of alternative rock is like an early Muse album thrown into a Queens of the Stone Age blender. Their live sets are famous for getting more and more intense as they go on, with 99% of the time with them ending up in the crowd.

Kamikaze Girls

This duo is a band we have always had a soft spot for, we stumbled across them around two years ago when we saw them supporting Petrol Girls in a warm North London venue. We have watched them grow since, supporting the likes of Gnarwolves and The World Is A Beautiful Place, plus they just announced they will be playing with Pianos Become the Teeth this August. Certainly a band to go see before they explode into something massive!

Art School Girlfriend

Opening the Scholar stage on the Saturday is Art School Girlfriend, she brings her unique blend of late-night electronics to Handmade Festival. There is something about her sound, that is very haunting, it digs deep into you as you listen. Certainly top of our list for someone to start your festival day with.

Natalie Evans

You can't help but full in love with this lady when you witness her live. The talents of her musical skills are out of this world, giving off a modern female Nick Drake vibe. If you feel like being taken to a magical place, then Natalie Evans is definitely for you.
