The Band Explains: MSRY - 'Broken Teeth' (Video)

Hardcore trio MSRY have released a stunningly visual video for their latest track 'Broken Teeth'

, taken from their upcoming EP 'Safety First'.

We had a chat with them about the video - Where was the video for Broken Teeth filmed?

Meadows Farm Studio – In between Oxford and Reading along Henley On Thames

How does the video compliment the song?

It's a song about overcoming negative energy, so it was important to have us being highly energetic and create that positive energy behind the song whilst using projected videos and images to cast negativity on us. So I think it complimented it quite well.

Any behind the scenes stories?

We had a bit of a hard time actually getting our video guy (Scott Canty) to the studio because it happened during that second bout of snow that absolutely knackered England and it wasn't until 3pm that Canty was able to get to the studio and we could start filming – we honestly thought we were going to have to cancel the entire shoot!. OH and TJ Smith going for a spin kick on one of his takes and hitting the deck hard was probably the best out take of the entire day.

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?

We wanted to use images that the media project onto us. We're talking about famine, destruction, hate, poverty, war. We wanted to use that as a projection over us because, it's shown over the internet and television stations 24/7, you can't get away from it. And this song is about being surrounded by negativity, so it only seems poetic that the things that are projected onto us constantly that creates this negativity energy should be used in the music video.

What is the message of the video trying to convey?

That no matter how much negativity is projected onto you or surrounds you in your day to day life, it's important to remember that you're not powerless to getting out of that mindset. Just because you see harmful images and negativity doesn't mean you have to feed into it, be the change and break that cycle.
