A Day In The Life Of #002 - Carmen

Following the release of her stunning debut single ‘Part Time, which went on to receive numerous radio plays on BBC Introducing, BBC 6Music and Soho Radio, and was named Track Of The Week on BBC Introducing Devon and Cornwall, 21-year-old Londoner Carmen recently returned with her latest offering ‘Tell Me’. With its contemporary take on the urban jazz genre, her latest cut reflects her own sassy personality, while also maintaining a strong hold on her formative hip-hop and RnB influences.

So with such a prominent return doing the rounds once again, we decided to get up close and personal with the young singer to find out how she is spending her time and what she likes to get up to when there isn’t a microphone placed in front of her.

My Alarm goes off...
At 7:30/8ish every day. I hate sleeping in.

The first thing I do is...
Drink lemon and ginger tea (can't live without it)

My typical day involves…
Depending on what stage I am at when writing and recording music I will either be in a session with the producer I work with or will be recording different session musicians. I’m working on an EP currently so that is my main focus.

In the evenings I’m either with friends or headed out to a gig or somewhere in Soho.

The best part of my day…
Spending time with friends even if it's just for 10 minutes. I love coming back to my home and having people over.

The worst part of my day is when…
I have to cook. I love food but I’m an awful chef.

At the end of my day I will…
Watch an episode of friends.

If I wasn't a musician I'd be a…
Probably still doing something creative. I like the idea of owning my own business or shop.
