The Band Explains: Hundreds - 'Ready Shaking Silent'

Electro-pop outfit Hundreds speak to us about their powerful single and music video, ‘Ready Shaking Silent’ which spreads the message of smashing the patriarchy and shows solidarity for equal rights. The track will be featured on the band's fourth and upcoming album ‘The Current’ which is set for release in 2020.

Where was the video for 'Ready, Shaking, Silent' filmed?
In Dahme in Brandenburg. It's about one and a half hour drive from Berlin. The director/camerawoman Susi Erler grew up there and knows secret places.

How does the video connect with the song?
It's mostly a performance video, which is supposed to have powerful pictures and movements. It connects, because I want to fight in the lyrics. And I seem
ready to fight in the video, too.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you can share with us?
The dancer we asked, cancelled his appearance in the video at 1 am in the night before we were supposed to shoot.
He asked a dancing friend of his, who is now our gardener. And he was just the right choice, because he is not only a dancer, but an actor and performer.
He did so well. And in the end we were really happy with him, even if we never heard of him before.

Could you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?

It is supposed to be a very simple game, that's happening. I give my speech and the dancer reacts and gets fought from the inside.

Is there a message the video is trying to convey?
The message of the song is: smash the patriarchy! Solidarity for equal rights. What people hopefully take away from the video is some kind of weirdness and a powerful message.
