A Day In The Life Of #005 - Keir
With a burning heart, a searing voice and explosive choruses, Keir is quickly becoming a huge talking point in the new music circles of late. With his latest single ‘Shiver’ bringing together the thunderous and vibrant aesthetics of acts like Imagine Dragons and Bastille, he is certainly on course to become one of the UK’s most engaging new artists.
So with his name on the rise right now, we thought we’d get up close and personal with the singer and producer to find out what exactly goes into his typical day.
At 7am. The first thing I do…
I don’t like early mornings, I prefer late nights, of course you can have both but I’d rather be asleep for a little longer.
My typical day involves…
Arriving at the studio or my friend Georges’ where we make coffee, chat, listen to music and start playing around with some new ideas. It could be a guitar line, piano progression, lyric, anything at all.
The best part of my day…
Making music is the best thing ever, that’s the best part. I’d stay up all night if I could, writing/producing new songs.
The worst part of my day is when…
I have to go home and let the music sit. No more changes to be made until the next day.
At the end of my day I will…
Read or watch old films. I love finding obscure films that seem to have been left behind. There’s a film called ‘Daisies’ or ‘Sedimikrasky’ which was made in 1966, which one of my all-time favourites. It’s about two female protagonists who decide the world is doomed so they should just have fun and do what they like. There’s so much innovation in it, the whole thing is like a mad collage. I’ve still never seen anything like it.
If I wasn't a musician I'd be a…
Well I loved my time as a support worker for people with autism (before I went full time with music), so maybe I’d go back to that.
