Inspired #76 - Allie X
Singer and songwriter Allie X has released her latest single ‘Love Me Wrong’, which is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Cape God’. The track features long-time friend and collaborator Troye Sivan, who also wrote the track with Allie X. She took a moment to talk to us about the track and the inspirations behind it.
Who are you top three musical inspirations?
Elizabeth Fraser because she invented her own language!
Haruki Murakami because his fiction inspired the X World.
David Bowie because he was so so special.
I don't know their are too many to name really! These are just some that come to mind right away.
Is there a certain film that inspires you?
I was really moved by La Enfermedad del Domingo (Sunday's Illness). Had me bawling my damn eyes out!
What city do you find the most inspiring?
I think if I stay anywhere too long it starts to bother me, as is the case with Los Angeles right now. I just went to Paris for the first time and loved it. I wrote my new music in Stockholm and really loved it there. I spend a lot of time in New York which is electrifying! I can't choose. Actually I will choose- I want to live in Switzerland!
Who is the most inspiring person to you?
I'm very inspired by my dad. For better or for worse, he is the one that I model myself after. Super hardworking, generous, stubborn man who has always had magic coming out of his fingertips in my eyes.
What is the inspiration behind the track?
The inspiration was the feeling of not being fully seen by your family or loved ones. They love you but not in the way you want to be loved.
How would you like to inspire people?
I'd like to give inspiration to the misfits who are having trouble understanding their place. I want to inspire them to make their own place. Find their own truths and happiness. That's what I'm trying to do.
