Introducing #0072 - KAWALA
Let us introduce you to KAWALA, who have released an intergalactic music video for their latest track ‘Runaway’, we had a chat with the band about the track and their plans for the future.
Where are you from? Tell us one fun fact about that place?
Born and raised in Kentish Town, North London. One fact? It’s the goddam greatest area on planet Earth.
What is your single ‘Runaway’ about?
It’s less immediately about a specific topic, and more a positive journey song about positive forward progression.
Where was it recorded?
We had the absolute blessing of having the chance to record it at RAK studios in London. It truly gave us the undeserved feeling of being rockstars.
Can you please tell us more about the video? What made you record something that sees battling evil forces on another planet?
Aha that’s a fantastic question. We’ve never really loved doing music videos and this was the first time we worked hard to create something we’d be proud of. To do that, we thought we’d do something that bears no connection to the song itself, and obviously that resulted in a Sci-Fi space battle with monsters, space instruments and an evil queen.
If you could go to any planet, which would it be and why?
It’d have to be Uranus purely and simply as I possess the sense of humour of a child.
What are you plans for the next few months?
Busy writing! Next month we’re off on tour with Dodie, playing some of the wildest venues in the UK like our local, the Roundhouse. And in May we’re amazingly off on our own debut headline tour which feels like a dream!
