Deco are back! Hitting us in the face with their electro dance tunes with their new track ‘Don’t Waste Your Time’. The band took a moment to talk to us in more depth about the track, and what music from the eighties influence their sound.

Your single ‘Don’t Waste Tour Time’ is out now, what is the track about?
This is quite a poignant song for us, it was kind of the light bulb moment where we questioned ourselves as to why we were wasting our time doing part time jobs that made us unhappy, when we could be doing what we love all the time! This song is basically the voice inside my head saying ‘fuck it, I’m going to follow this dream that I’ve had since I was about 13’.

I guess we’re trying to spread some kind of escapism with this tune and telling people not to be afraid to go against what is expected of them and to just follow their dreams!  Writing uplifting music is what we’re all about, sometimes you need to see everything from a rose tinted point of view!

Where was it recorded? Any behind the scenes stories?
We recorded this with Half Crescent & Harry Powell in London. We recorded between Half Crescent's studio in North West London and SSR studio in Camden. We recorded Drums and Guitars through a desk that used to be owned by The Cure which was pretty cool! We got it mastered by John Davis (Dua Lipa, Years & Years, Foals)

Your sound is very old school, with hints of the eighties thrown in there, who are your top inspirations from that period and why?
We both love 80's music but I'd say our influences are both different. My (Max) main influences from that era are probably George Michael, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson & Tears for Fears. Some of John's are Talking Heads, Madonna & Frankie goes to Hollywood. I guess it's because our parents were teenagers/young adults in the 80's so they loved and played these artists throughout our childhood - so it's like a subconscious influence!

What are your plans for the next few months?
We're currently on tour with Kovic - we have 3 shows left in Manchester, Birmingham & London We've just released our new single 'Don't Waste Your Time' which is from our debut EP which we're due to be releasing in late March. We play our 4 huge headline shows in Spring - our biggest ever at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham which is going to be very special!

We'll release more new music over summer and play loads of amazing festivals, we then finish the year with another EP and another tour. It's going to be our busiest year ever basically..
