Jade Jackson is due to drop her new album ‘Wilderness’ later this month on the 28th June via ANTI-Records. She took a moment to talk to us about Bruce Springsteen, and all things that inspire her.

Who are you top three musical inspirations?
Bruce Springsteen, Hank Williams, and Mike Ness. Their songwriting alone withstands the test of time. To this day, Mike and Bruce continue to put out quality music with depth that’s both timeless and relevant.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
I feel like all films inspire me in different ways.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
When you’re moving from city to city it’s hard to get a grasp on the entirety of what that region has to offer. The cities off the top of my head that have left the biggest impressions have been Berlin, Paris, Nashville, and my hometown, Santa Margarita.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
My mom and dad, hands down. They met when they were seventeen, got married months later and started a family in their early twenties with no one to support their journey but each other. I’ve watched them work hard to build their business, our small family restaurant, into something that’s helped them help my siblings and I start our own lives.

How would you like to inspire people?
By being unapologetically myself - honest and open about what’s really going on in my head. Having suffered with depression, eating disorders and anxiety, though intuitively knowing other people experienced these things too, I felt alone and ashamed. Talking about it hopefully will help those dealing with self-deprecation feel less alienated. I strongly believe that when we connect we can overcome and grow.
