The Artist Explains: EEVA - 'Jimmy From The Gym'
One of Sweden’s hottest young songwriters EEVA has just dropped her debut track - ‘Jimmy From The Gym’, she took a moment to go in more depth about the track for us.
Your track 'Jimmy From The Gym' is out now, what is the meaning behind the title?
'Jimmy From The Gym' is the opening line of the chorus and is one of the 5 guys I mention in the song but in someway I feel he is the main character. The title came pretty naturally, I even call the song just ‘Jimmy' sometimes haha. The song is now a person.
What is the inspiration behind the song?
Well, I wrote it together with two close friends/colleges and we just went a little crazy with the topic. Had a lot of fun finding names that rhyme with a lot of things and we started to build up all these characters that constantly are hitting on you. It's fun and silly but we also put in a deeper meaning in there. Speaking of how it's not as perfect as it may seem and what we have been taught is ‘perfect' isn’t perfect, in fact it's not at all what you want or need.
Where was the track recorded? Are there any behind the scenes stories you are happy to share with us?
I'm based as a songwriter at Baggpipe Studios in Stockholm and thats where the magic happened. We actually wrote this song for pitching and we did try to pitch it to other artists. The response was always really good they just didn’t know who was gonna do it or if there even was someone out there for it yet… so a new artist was born, moi!
Another behind the scenes story…. Both my label A&R and my manager by coincidence got their names in the song and they are, in fact, in disguise in the long line of men in my music video!
What do you hope your listeners take from the song?
I hope the song will put a smile on a lot of people's lips, a groove in a lot of people's hips and make them realise that money doesn’t make you rich! #RHYME
Now the track is out there, what next? What are your plans for the next few months?
OH! Let me tell you.. theres a follow up to this, baby! And if you thought it couldn’t get more extra… (oops!) Other than that I’ll keep writing tons of music for both myself and other artists.
