Sucker's Song of the Week - The Riversiders - 'Original 2'

Welcome to ‘Sucker’s Song of the Week’, the first in a weekly series of features, brought to you by south-based new music developers, Sucker.

New indie kids on the block, The Riversiders, are back with their high-octane new single, Original 2- the first single of 2020 for the London-based band, off the back of a blistering debut year of releasing music.

Jarringly opening up with a chilling introduction, the indie banger quickly delves deep into blaring riffs and punchy vocals, creating an intense mash-up of Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend-esque guitar music. Original 2 is undoubtedly indie rock at its current finest - raw and raucous - and it’s another step in the right direction for this seemingly young band.

It’s simplicity only allows its energy to become accessed easier by its listener. Predictable? Perhaps, but that’s not always a bad thing when it’s delivered with a bit of aggression and with a bit of edge.

Talking about Original 2,lead singer Alfie Crews, said: “There’s a gap in the market for raw rock and that’s what we are trying to bring back. With Original 2 we tried to capture the energy of a live performance and we believe it can be felt through the recording”
