Zoe Wakelam - 'Self-Talk'

Aussie-born, London-based singer songwriter Zoe Wakelam shares cathartic new single, ‘Self-Talk’.

‘Self-Talk’ describes a very personal experience to Zoe Wakelam. Wrapped into sparkling melodies and dynamic rhythms, she talks openly about her struggle with anxiety and a compulsion to be productive. “Lately, I’ve been a mess and it’s kinda hard to confess,” is the poignant first line leading into the track. A statement that would perfectly lend itself to a melancholic piano ballad, but Zoe doesn’t waste any time on pity parties.

Instead she picks herself right back up, straightens her crown, and stands to fight another day. ‘Self-Talk’ is brilliantly powerful. Written after a time of big changes in Zoe’s life, it’s more than a song; it’s a confessional outpouring, and a mantra. Something to turn to for comfort and catharsis.
