The Artist Explains: Winona Oak - 'Another Story'

Swedish Artist Winona Oak speaks to us about her artistic visuals for ‘Another Story’ which explores self-forgiveness, strength, support systems and closure.

Where was the video filmed?
It was shot in this beautiful gazebo right by the ocean, in Sweden.

How does the video connect with the song? (if at all)
A
nother Story is the last song on my EP, and it kind of summarises the heart of the EP. It’s about forgiving yourself for all of those bad situations that you’ve put yourself through and finding the strength to keep moving forward. In the video you can see all the other videos projected on me, pieces from the past.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you can share with us?
We had some kids that were spying on us while filming, they kept on knocking on the door and threw snowballs on the windows hah. Pretty annoying, one time they even succeeded connecting to our bluetooth speaker and changed the song?? Well well.

Could you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
I love how the dancers are moving around with such ease, helping me to hold my head up when I’m struggling with every move. They symbolise the people in your life that are your rock throughout the bad times. The people that wipe your tears and hold you up when you can’t even get out of your own bed.

Is there a message the video is trying to convey?
I hope that they see that I found my closure, and that they can find it too. Unless you let go you cannot move forward.
