Getting Intimate With #008 - Rebecca Phillips

London-based experimental R&B artist Rebecca Phillips has just released her new self-directed video, ‘Silicone Skin’ which grotesquely explores the theme of human obsession for technological progression, seeing her character attempt to construct a perfect clone of her ex. We took a moment to step inside her psyche in our latest, ‘Getting Intimate With’ segment.

Last time I cried I felt like a broken china dish.

When I’m stressed I feel a cord coil around my neck but I try to respond creatively to work my way out of the constriction

The album I play over and over again, at least for the last couple of years has been Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Skeleton Tree.

The last person I spoke to on the phone was Emily Dance.

My favourite comfort food is hard to get hold of.

The movie I watch when I’m sad is, I don’t watch movies when I’m too sad cos the kind of films I like would probs make me feel more down, I like disturbing films. I find visual art helpful and meditative though.

The last thought I had before falling asleep has disappeared into the creases into my sheets, although I have been wondering why they changed the streetlights in my road, they glow like these sterile statues that illuminate the street and make me feel like I’m in Lynch film.

The last book I read was J.G. Ballard’s, Kingdom Come.
