Chester based trio Pint + Blister have just released their new single ‘The Wild Side of Eden’, which sees the punk inspired rockers take an unexpected turn with this emotional track. Is this a new direction for the band, or just a side we haven't heard yet? Find out more as the band discuss the track in more depth.

Hey Pint + Blister, how are you keeping?
We’re doing good yeah, can’t wait to get back out and play these songs live again

So, your new track ‘The Wild Side Of Eden’ is out now - can you tell us what the track is about?
It started off as Matt trying to be Johnny Marr on guitar. All the parts came quite naturally, and the lyrics were odd bits of lines that, when pieced together, worked well. All the parts for the song were pretty easy to write, it was arranging it that took longest. It's more fragile than our other songs, so we needed to approach it differently yet retain "our sound".

Where was the track recorded? Any behind the scenes stories from the process?
We put the track together ourselves, in our own BED + SHED studios. We’ve had the same formula now for all of our releases cos if isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Right? First off, we’ll track the drums - we record them where we rehearse. Josh’ll find the bpm for the song, pop in on some headphones and away we go. He’s a wizz at it really, we got the drums for 3 tracks down within a couple of hours. Next we’ll get Matt to track his lead and rhythm guitar parts and again, there’s no mucking about here. All these guitar tracks are done in an hour, tops. After that Nathan will lay down his own guitar parts and the vocal as well. Once everything is there, Nathan will mix it. We try to keep everything as simple as possible so, sadly, no exciting stories to tell! We’ve done the same process with every release and we’ve got better at it every time.

The track itself is a bit more melancholic compared to your previous singles, is this a new direction for you?
It is more melancholic than our other releases. But it's not necessarily a "new direction" - it's a different side to our song writing and what music we like and want to play. We love our punk and hard rock, but we love indie/alternative/post punk too, which is the vibe we tried to get here. It's actually older than our previous releases 'Angry Machine' and 'Upwardly Mobile...', it's just that now seemed like the right time to put it out.

With this being the second track from you in 2020, will we be hearing an EP any time soon?
An EP is definitely the next step for us, as soon as we get the chance were gonna start writing and recording more songs so we’ll have to just wait and see!
