The Artist Explains: Emmrose - 'The Grass Was Greener'
Indie pop artist Emmrose has just released her single ‘The Grass Was Greener’ - a track about a failed love story that also oozes that dark mystery similar to Lana Del Ray. She took a moment to talk to us in more depth about the song.
So, how are you?
I’m ok! I have just finished my junior year of high school and that’s pretty crazy. I really hope I can focus on music this summer and also work on my mental health!
Your track ‘The Grass Was Greener’ is out now, can you tell us what the track is about?
The Grass Was Greener is all about memories of young love and the heartbreak of leaving what was a “better” time. But in reality- you’d always think things are better before. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Where was the track recorded?
The track was recorded remotely!! I have never done this before, though I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want it to happen again. It can be so frustrating recording a vocal track the wrong way and being all frustrated with the mechanics of producing music. Thank god I got to work with my amazing producer and friend Mike Abiuso!
Any behind the scenes stories from the recording process?
The only real stories are me and my mom yelling at each other about how to press the record button on Logic. It’s the big red one by the way.
It deals with the topic of young love, what does young love mean to you?
Ah, young love. I’m still experiencing it so I can’t really say my full opinion haha. I’ve always been a romantic person, so it is amazing to get to share that side of myself with someone. Though it can go very, very wrong. Especially when the other person dumps you and starts dating your best friend. Just great.
What next?
I’m going back to the studio! I’m going to try and release a new EP in the late summer or early fall. I have so many new ideas and songs ready. I’m so excited to share more of my music!
