Introducing #105 - World's First Cinema
Let us introduce you to World’s First Cinema, who have just released their new cinematic track ‘Cold Sets In’. They took a moment to talk to us about their origins and the band’s goals when it comes to their music.
Hey there, so your single ‘Cold Sets In’ is out now, can you tell us what the track is about?
The track is the first ballad esq song we have released. The lyrical themes aim to explore how pain and turmoil can bring you closer to loved ones but even when any relationship needs to reach an end, it's often the starting over that is the most important part of a journey.
It is the latest offering from your forthcoming debut EP - what can we get to hear that?
You can expect to hear the full thing in a matter of weeks. We feel that this first EP is truly just an initial offering to lay down the foundation of what's to come on a bigger scale.
You both come from musical backgrounds - so how did this pairing come about?
We met through a mutual friend who was also a musician. We got together a couple times to write and work on a couple other different projects and then we built a friendship and decided to start writing some original stuff together. We had originally intended the songs to only be for sync but once the material started flowing and the personality of the project came to life we both got so excited about it we decided to dive into it head first.
How would you describe your sound in a few words?
Cinematic, theatrical, melodic, explosive,
What are the key musical influences for World’s First Cinema?
Sonically I think our influences for WFC are split into 2 main sources. On one hand we have rock/alt/pop which is where we typically draw inspiration for our structuring and writing style, sometimes even in production. Then on the other side we have cinematic scoring and more theatrical sync music as a key influence to our sound. Our goal has always been to try and make the two worlds meet to create something new as it's a project we didn’t really feel was out there much already. We love taking a melodic pop/rock song structure and melody bases and then using more cinematic instrumentation and production to try make the song feel like it belongs to a dramatic scene of a movie.
