Let us introduce you to ilselena - a fresh new talent from London who has just unveiled her captivating new single ‘Zeus’ - she took a moment to talk to us about her music.

Hey ilselena, how are you? Your new track ‘Zeus’ is out now, can you tell us what it is about?
I wrote Zeus during lockdown 2020 when a lot of Black Lives Matter protests were happening at the time. The song is a statement that black lives do matter, and black lives need to be heard. We stand together. This song means a lot to me and I hope you can stand by me and the message I am portraying.

You are based in London, what are your favorite things about the city?
I love London! Similar to what they say about New York; The city never sleeps. So there is always something to do in London. I love keeping busy and always filling up my day. Whether its going to the studio to write and record music, going to college, meeting up with friends and family, or just me time.

Where do you go for musical adventures?
I try to put myself in a different place when writing. Away from all concerns and issues we are all facing and simply just put pen to paper.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never listened to you before?
The tracks I’ve released so far all have a feel-good approach and are all relatable to the younger generation. However, Zeus is an important message for all listeners.

Who are your top musical influences when it comes to your songwriting?
I’ve always looked up to my dad (Kid Creole) and my brother, as they are a huge part of my musical journey, and they carry on to inspire me. I can always rely on H.E.R when it comes to songwriting, as she has a similar storytelling feel to her music, which I try to portray too.
