Festival News: Second wave of names for Slam Dunk Festival 2022

It’s barely mid-October and the organisers over at Slam Dunk have dropped yet ANOTHER line-up announcement. Not that we’re complaining!

After the previous announcement back in September — which, for those that need a quick refresher, concerned the legendary Alexisonfire, the inimitable Rancid, and a host of other brilliant names including The Wonder Years and Motion City Soundtrack — Slam Dunk have surprised us, one and all, with another tantalising tease.

Joining us in Hatfield and Leeds next June come a host of bands — again, some returning from 2020’s line-up, and some brand spanking new — including the Californian pop punk band The Story So Far (can you think of anyone more perfect for Slam Dunk’s famous fields?), the masterful metalcore outfit The Amity Affliction, the punk-rock powerhouse Hot Water Music, the emo enclave of Silverstein, and the delightfully dour Spanish Love Songs.

Thankfully, the Parisian punks in Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! are back on the line up too, as are the Welsh wunderkinds Dream State. Elsewhere, joining the revered punk names that always Grace Slam Dunk’s presence, come both The Vandals and The Flatliners.

It’s barely been a month and already the organisers over at Slam Dunk seem bored of waiting — understandable, really, with the two years of waiting during that whole ‘global pandemic’ thing. These little announcements, drip-feeding us with some of the bands they’ve secured, help to keep the excitement alive as we begin to hype ourselves up for next June. Well, consider us hyped!
