Inspired #340 - AJ Wander
British artist AJ Wander has just released his new track ‘ Take It All’ - a reminder to himself to not get distracted by glimpses of light amongst the darkness. He took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind his music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
My dad - He introduced me to the piano, and his record collection. I wouldn’t be making music without him. (I also wouldn’t exist).
Bob Dylan - Lyrics, lyrics lyrics.
Paolo Nutini - His ability to evolve.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
I find more inspiration in the countryside than in the city, noise sounds better when it’s surrounded by silence.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
Can’t say I’d single out one inspirer, but David Attenborough seems like a pretty cool guy.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
My own shit. I was tied up in something that was dragging me down and I wrote this song after realising I had to get out.
How would you like to inspire people?
If my music inspires an emotional connection with some of those that listen to it then I’m happy. (Even if that emotion is sadness, sorry!)
