Inspired #327 - Anorak Patch
Already championed by BBC6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and Radio X. Teen four piece Anorak Patch have released their latest single ‘Delilah’ via Nice Swan Records, which is a tale of wanting more than the small town you call home. They took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind their music.
O - Sonic Youth , Black Country New Road & Radiohead - all because for me, they were able to do something new and exciting with music that I hadn't heard before.
Ef - Aphex Twin, Black Midi & UNKLE - they are all incredibly talented and I feel that they have made a huge mark on music.
El - Mitski - a great lyricist, Geddy Lee- unreal bassist & Victor Wooten - unreal bassist.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
L - School of Rock because i have watched it a ridiculous amount of times and can quite every line word for word.
El - I enjoy music documentaries they inspire me to strive for music.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
O - Liverpool - the hustle and bustle of Liverpool I find inspiring because its completely different to a place like we live.
Ef & L - London - as if you walk around you see such a diverse range of people just within a mile radius.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
O & L - Geordie greep because it's geordie greep.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
O - Shame, Sonic Youth, Ought.
El - I see myself in Delilah, i’ve created my own interpretation of the lyrics in a way.
How would you like to inspire people?
L - By telling them ‘don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle’
El - iId like to inspire women to get into music, although there are a lot more women in the industry it’s still heavily male dominated.
