Festival News: Slam Dunk Festival announce Sum 41 and Dropkick Murphys

The organisers at Slam Dunk had a nice little surprise in store for us this week, and with it not even being Christmas!

First off — unfortunately, Rancid have had to drop out.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that two more headliners have rushed in to take their place!

First up is Sum41, the crowd favourite Canadians who were forced to drop out of their co-headlining slot with Don Broco in 2021. Plus, The Dropkick Murphys! These Celtic punk-folk hybrids will add a nice tinge of lucky Irish green to the otherwise monochrome pop punk festival.

Joining these two on the new additions roster include: the Interruptors, who are bound to disrupt the day in their usual skadelightful way; The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the ska-punk nine (9!?) piece; the rowdy rock hardcore outfit Pennywise, not to be confused with the creepy clown which they were named after; the fantastically anthemic Deaf Havana; the emo punk favourite Knuckle Puck; the insanely talented and rising star KennyHoopla; the indescribable manic greatness of Eskimo Callboy, and plenty more!

They all join the already announced ALEXISONFIRE; The Wonder Years, who have since been announced to be playing their first two albums in full — The Upsides in Leeds on the 3rd June and Suburbia in Hatfield on the 4th June — over the two Slam Dunk iterations; The Used; The Amity Affliction and more.

So what are you waiting for? Between this new line up and the ‘Slam Dunk presents You Me At Six: Sinners Never Sleep’ anniversary show — now also with The Hunna and Holding Absence — Slam Dunk is truly lining up to be the biggest event of 2022.

A statement which I am absolutely positive will age well globally.
