Off the back of her new single "Midnight Interlude", we caught up with Amava to find out what makes her tick throughout the day.

My Alarm goes off…
I like to lie there and suffer in the fact that I was just woken up from whatever dream I was having. I’m very much a morning person (probably the annoying chipper kind) so I’m usually waking up right at 6. I’ve gotten pretty bad about looking at my phone first thing in the morning, so I’ll probably consume a depressing article or two and then pop out of bed.

The first thing I do…
I go into my bathroom and immediately wash my face, brush my teeth and put on my contacts. I also take my skincare very seriously so I’m usually slapping on serums and/or doing a facial massage.

My typical day involves…
Like everyone, my routine is wildly different since 2020, so I’m usually writing from home all day. I definitely spend a lot of time either on my laptop answering emails or sitting at the upright piano with my Notes App and just coming up with new lyrics. Fashion and makeup is a huge part of my life as well so I also love to play with new glitter eyeshadows or go vintage shopping. I’m a pretty avid chess player so I’ll play a couple of online matches on chess.com towards the evening. Cooking is also one of my passions so I’m usually trying out a new recipe or making an old favorite for dinner, then my boyfriend and I will usually watch a show or something. I try to have a little bit of time at the end of the day just to decompress by myself so I’ll shower, maybe do a face mask and then scroll through some online couture shops and just stare at all the pretty clothes. I’m usually dead asleep at 11:30.

The best part of my day…
Is the morning time. I always look forward to the few hours I’m up and alone with my coffee in my office. I’ll usually put on a podcast and do some fun eyeliner and just watch the sun rise. I also love a good golden hour porch sit in the late afternoon.

The worst pay of my day is when…
I hit that afternoon slump. I usually hit that wall around 3/4 p.m and get pretty tired. I don’t really like napping so I usually just sit, look at my phone and feel tired for a little bit before I force myself up.

At the end of my day I will…
Usually Facetime my family for a bit. I’m very close with all of them so we’ll chat and try to catch up on our days. I’ll do my nighttime skincare routine and try to wind down. I need to get into a better habit about no phone/laptop in bed but I haven’t really been keeping that up so I’ll usually scroll until I get too tired.

If I wasn’t a musician I’d be….
doing something in the music industry regardless. I have a degree in Music Business so I’d either be doing songwriting or working with other artists at a label.
