Festival News: Slam Dunk Festival Reveal Names For September Installment

unnamed-17.jpg

After the recent news that Slam Dunk had taken the inevitable steps of rescheduling from late May to early September, questions began to arise as to how the lineup would look once the dust began to settle. Would it emerge unscathed from the ashes? Would it be unrecognisable? Or simply something in between?

Well, now we finally have the answers.

Slam Dunk 2021, taking place on the 4th (North) and 5th (South) of September, is largely the same as it was in May, and indeed how it should have been for 2020. A few notable omissions, to be sure; the Australian bands in particular seemed to have removed themselves — probably due to the status of each country in regards to a particular global virus — so don’t be surprised to no longer find Hands Like Houses or The Faim written down, for instance.

But for the most part, the line up is still as beautiful as ever. Given the circumstances, it’s a genuine miracle that so many amazing bands could still make the new dates. It’s a shame to see so many absentees but it can’t be helped; and it just means that there’s yet another line-up announcement to look forward to!

Plus, with this new announcement comes new bands. Five new additions add an extra spark of optimism in an announcement that may finally, FINALLY, signal the light at the end of the tunnel.

Announced as additions to the plethora of fantastic acts returning in September are Escape The Fate, Crown The Empire, Hacktivist, Snuff and Malevolence. These will join Don Broco, Sum 41, While She Sleeps, Bury Tomorrow, NOFX, Mayday Parade and a host of other top names in this punktastic celebration of music!
