USA based artist Julion talks us through the inspirations behind her latest single ‘Inconclusive’.

Who are your top three musical inspirations?
My top three musical inspirations are Taylor Swift, Joji, and Machine Gun Kelly. They’re 3 TOTALLY different artists but I absolutely admire them. The inspiration they give me allows me to experiment with the style of music I make.

Is there a certain film that inspires you?
A film that inspires me the most is a show called Weeds. It was just recently taken off Netflix April 1st sadly, but it’s irreverent nature shows me it’s not only ok to be unconventional, but it’s a lot more intersting.

What city do you find the most inspiring?
A city I find most inspiring is NYC. It sounds so cliche but it’s true! I feel like New York is a place where you are encouraged to be yourself, and as a result, it’s such a diverse and original place.

Who is the most inspiring person to you?
The most inspiring person to me is Taylor Swift (I’m a huge swiftie if you haven’t noticed lol). Not only is her music amazing but she is a strong independent who knows what she wants and knows how she should be treated. I love how she’s not afraid to speak up anymore. She is a wonderful role model for any young girl and I hope to even half way follow in her footsteps.

What were your inspirations when writing your new single?
The music behind the lyrics I had actually written about a year ago. I was going through my finished beats, and when I brought up this beat, Inconclusive, I started humming a melody that popped into my head. I then got the idea to base the lyrics on a situation I was having at the time.. I thought it was a good idea to style the song as a voicemail as if to say “Hey! This is what I have to say to you.”.

How would you like to inspire people?
If people could take one thing from me, it’s that you don’t have to be afraid to be different. It’s ok to be different.
